ACHIEVING Your Compliance Goals - A Program of Excellence

The goal of CHx
The goal of the CHx program is to ensure that your hospital achieves and maintains JCAHO compliance. To accomplish this goal, the CHx program incorporates ASSE Series 6000 and NFPA 99 guidelines related to piped medical gas, and gives you an accurate look at the level of compliance of your medical gas systems as a whole as well as the individual components that make up the system. The results of system testing are presented in a complete report detailing deficiencies, and that includes charts of compliance for quick reference.

To assist with the specialized tasks of testing and repair, the CHx pogram incorporates Professional Services*, which has comprehensive offerings that range from asset collection and testing, to routine maintenance and large construction projects. With CHx, it’s more than just software, it’s a program for your compliance.

The reports generated by the CHx software following testing, can be translated
into a series of Work Orders that can be prioritized and sorted by urgency, type, location, trade, or shop. The software also can manage ongoing Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, JCAHO, NFPA and ASSE guidelines for a comprehensive program of monitoring, testing, and maintenance.

The initial implementation of the CHx program has been performed at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation’s (CCF) main campus in Cleveland, OH, and has invovled extensive work with a number of leaders in the medical equipment manufacturing industry.

Maintaining regulatory compliance is an ongoing process, especially in the area of our Piped Medical Gas System. To help ensure maximum compliance and patient safety, Cleveland Clinic and CHT LLC have worked together on the development of the CHx program which has now been implemented on the CCF main campus. We have been very pleased with the results of this program at our main campus, and are anxious to move forward introducing this program to our remaining Cleveland Clinic Health System Hospitals.

In addition to initial testing and analysis, CHx offers off-site data storage and an on-going program that can include real-time monitoring of maintenance issues specific to your desired level of compliance.

C – represents the “compliance” portion of the CHx program. There are a number of external standards incorporated into the software and the program as a whole. This portion of CHx also focuses on system reliability which ultimately increases patient safety.

Hx – which is the medical shorthand for “patient history records,” symbolizes CHT’s viewpoint that, the HOSPITAL is the patient and that our rigorous system of testing, analysis, repair, and preventive maintenance ensures that your hospital is healthy.
