CHx Goes to CANADA
October 10, 2006
Nathan Carrick
Director of Marketing
This past month, the CHx Program was introdued to Canada in a Toronto-based facility of Cleveland Clinic. Crews from CHT were on hand in Toronto performing inspections and gathering information as the program moves into full swing.
CHT's work in Canada was in conjunction with a Canadian firm and was focused mainly on testing and verification functions related to the CHx Compliance Program that is in operation at Cleveland Clinic's main campus in Cleveland, OH. The work was done as a precursor to full scale implementation at the Canadian facility.
The initiation of work at Cleveland Clinic's Toronto, Canada based operation is the latest in a series of new hospitals and facilities bringing CHx online. This facility joins several others this quarter that have taken the step forward into a better and a safer future for their patients through the tracking and planning of the maintenance of their Piped Medical Gas Systems.
Similarly to CHx's use towards JCAHO compliance, Canadian facilities will be able to use CHx towards CSA compliance, as the rules and codes for Canadian facilities and clinic and medical facility operations will soon be incorporated into CHx.
"CHx is continually growing and expanding, and this is just one more validation of our original proof of concept. It even works in Canada," says Scott Lisec, CHT's President of Operations.

Maintaining regulatory compliance is an ongoing process, especially in the area of our Piped Medical Gas System. To help ensure maximum compliance and patient safety, Cleveland Clinic and CHT LLC have worked together on the development of the CHx program which has now been implemented on the CCF main campus. We have been very pleased with the results of this program at our main campus, and are anxious to move forward introducing this program to our remaining Cleveland Clinic Health System Hospitals.
