The American Society of Sanitary Engineering (ASSE) has reviewed the CHT LLC's (CHT) CHx Piped Medical Gas JCAHO Compliance Software and Program and has voted to grant copyright permission to CHT for the direct integration of ASSE Series 6000 standards and codes into the CHx Software.
The Saturday, April 22 meeting of the ASSE Board of Directors included an executive breakout session during which CHT's President of Operations, Scott Lisec, presented the ideas and basis for the development of the CHx Program to the 15 board members.
During the presentation, Nick Pinizotto from the Facilities Engineering Department of Cleveland Clinic Foundation also provided insight as to why Cleveland Clinic has chosen to implement the CHx Program.
Following the presentation and Q&A Session, the Board returned to open meeting and opted to take an immediate vote as to whether or not to allow CHT copyright permission. Without argument or significant deviation from the original request, the board voted 14 to 1 in favor of allowing CHT copyright permission for the ASSE Series 6000.
This decision is a major step forward for the progress of the CHx Program primarily because the adoption and integration of the ASSE Series 6000 code, which provides detailed information on Preventive Maintenance and Repair, provides the CHx Program a solid foundation from an industry agreed-upon code on which to build the CHx Program's JCAHO compliance recommendations.
